Highscore tips: run further, score more

StickRun scene: Low drone
Jump technique, speed, coins and the most common mistakes: how to get more out of every StickRun run – with real values from the game.

Better highscores are no coincidence. These tips are based on the real rules of the game – with numbers taken straight from the game simulation.

How your points add up

  • 1 point per metre. Distance is your most important source of points.
  • 5 points per coin. A row of five coins is therefore worth 25 m of distance.
  • So: survival beats collecting. Never risk a run for a single coin.

Understanding the speed

  • You start at 9 m/s. Every second it gets 0.09 m/s faster.
  • After just under 2 minutes and 47 seconds you reach the top speed of 24 m/s – that is after about 2,750 m.
  • At 1,000 m you are running at roughly 16 m/s. From here the most difficult obstacles are added.
  • Important: at higher speed every jump carries you further. So take off a little earlier than at the start.

Jump technique

  1. Tap briefly for flat jumps. If you release the key early, the jump is cut short. Flat jumps land sooner – you are ready for the next obstacle earlier.
  2. Hold for full height. A full jump reaches just under 2.5 m – enough for the wall (2.2 m) and the crate stack (1.8 m).
  3. Double jump as a rescue. In mid-air you can jump once more (about 1.7 m extra). Save it for emergencies: took off too early, jumped too short, fell into a pit.
  4. Dive. If you press "duck" in mid-air, you drop straight down and keep sliding ducked after landing. Ideal when a beam or a low drone follows right after a jump.

Reading obstacles

  • Grey and high = run under. The high drone hovers above your head – do not jump.
  • Orange at head height = duck. The low drone and the yellow-and-black beam require ducking.
  • "!" warning sign = pit. Take off as soon as the sign passes you.
  • Red marker on the ground = falling block. That is where the block lands – do not stop underneath.
  • All details are in the obstacle guide.

Collecting coins smartly

  • Coin arcs above obstacles show a good jump path. With a full jump you collect the whole arc.
  • Under drones and in the tunnel coins lie on the ground – while ducking you collect them automatically (5 coins in the tunnel = 25 points).
  • On the moving platform 3 coins are waiting. Skipping them saves risk but costs you 15 points.
  • With an account, the coins you collect are credited to your account after every counted run – for outfits in the shop.

The most common mistakes

  1. Jumping under the high drone. The classic – just keep running.
  2. Standing up too early. The beam (1.4 m) and tunnel (3.5 m) are wider than they look.
  3. Wasting the double jump. If you use it right after every take-off, it is gone when things get tight.
  4. Jumping too late at the rolling barrel. It rolls towards you at 4 m/s – take off earlier.
  5. Panicking at high speed. The gaps grow with the speed. Stay calm and keep the rhythm.

Playing better on your smartphone

  • Hold your device sideways: you see the same track, only bigger.
  • Use the big buttons at the bottom: Jump on the right, Duck on the left. Alternatively: tap = jump, swipe down = duck.
  • In the game menu you can switch the eye-friendly mode on and off.
